Frequently asked
The questions we expect — answered directly.
Atlanta Track Club expects questions and want to address all opportunties and concerns raised. Among the topics we expect to cover — traffic, parking, and lights. Eeach is addressed both in the project design and on this page. Don't see your question?Send it directly.
- How will the facility affect traffic on Georgia Ave SE and surrounding streets?
- Georgia Avenue SE — a three-lane corridor already designed for event traffic from Center Parc Stadium — is the only primary vehicular access for the project. Connally St SE, Little St SE, and Martin St SE remain passive residential edges, with no event-day vehicular access and no parking-structure access. The MARTA bus stop is approximately 950 ft from the site, and shuttle integration on event days is being explored.
- Where will people park?
- Community and staff parking to sit behind building frontage and tree buffers — held away from the street and residents. Georgia State purple lot used for special events and scaled parking needs. There is no parking access on Little St SE, or Connally St SE.
- Will the facility have stadium lights, and how late will they stay on?
- The indoor center itself will contain the bulk of new programming. A defined cap on practice and event-night exterior lighting will be defined with community input informing final plans.
- What are the facility's operating hours?
- Operating hours will be documented in writing as part of the agreement, with specific caps for practice nights and events. Posted publicly once finalized.
- How does APS get access to the facility?
- This will be an Atlanta Track Club operated facility on APS land. Shared-use terms for APS student-athletes are part of the agreement and are addressed in the public FAQ as they're finalized.
- Will the facility be open to the community? At what cost?
- Yes — community access is part of the project's design intent, with 8,757 SF of dedicated community space plus the track overlook. Pricing models and program scheduling are being finalized and will be documented here.
- Is this connected to other municipal projects or reinvestment plans?
- No. The project's scope is intentionally kept distinct from unrelated municipal and reinvestment conversations. It will be a use-conforming facility built on an existing partnership, presented on its own merits.
- When will decisions be made?
- Community engagement runs June and July. The APS Board considers the project in August. If approved, a Definitive Agreement is targeted for execution by the end of September.
