An Olympic legacy,
continued for the
next generation of Atlanta.
Atlanta Track Club and Atlanta Public Schools are proposing an indoor track and field center on the Cheney site — the surviving 1996 Olympic warmup track that the Track Club has programmed under APS permit since 2017. The property will offer amenities to the community, APS and act as headquarters for Atlanta Track Club.
Supporting APS Student Athletes
Through its existing partnership with Atlanta Public Schools, Atlanta Track Club has shown that particpation in cross country and track & field leads to higher GPA's and better attendance. This project is an investment in the next generation of Atlanta.

Built around three commitments — to Atlanta Public Schools, to Summerhill, and to the City of Atlanta.
A facility for APS
A Track Club operated facility on APS land, building on a programming partnership Atlanta Track Club and APS have operated on this site since 2017 — and expanding shared-use access for student-athletes.
APS partnership →A neighbor in Summerhill
Become a dependable neighbor that offers open green space, running and walking access as well as an indoor center with community meeting space, healthcare, and extensive exercise and wellness options.
Community →Strengthening Atlanta's healthy city reputation
Preserves an existing Olympic legacy asset for the community and adds a Beltline-adjacent youth and amateur athletics venue to the city.
The project →At the Crossroads of Atlanta.
Adjacent to Center Parc Stadium (former Turner Field), in the Beltline Southside corridor, with Georgia State University to the north. The Cheney parcel sits inside one of Atlanta's oldest neighborhoods — founded in 1865 — and one of its most historically significant athletic sites.
